Summary
The universe is dying. Invictus, an ancient light consuming being has finally broken free from Final Space. Stars are dying. Galaxies are gone. And standing in the middle of this cosmic disaster is a found family that refuses to quit: Gary Goodspeed, Quinn Ergon, Avocato, Little Cato, and the rest of Team Squad who somehow keep surviving the impossible.
This is the endgame. A last-chance mission to destroy Invictus and save the Universe. But every step forward takes a piece out of them. The choices get harder. The losses get heavier. Heroes who’ve carried the light for so long will discover what it really costs to stop the dark.
Explosive sci-fi action collides with heart-wrecking emotion in a story that has been building for over a decade. It’s funny. It’s wild. It’s painful. It’s hopeful. It’s everything Final Space has ever been, turned up to eleven. This is where the saga ends.

Production
Since the announcement of the series' cancellation on September 2021, creator Olan Rogers sought a way to get the show an ending. He pitched ideas for several ways to finish it, being a movie, a video game, an extended episode or a graphic novel. He sought for the graphic novel route, since it would be the easiest way to produce the ending, as well the cheapest one.
The deal of a licence for a graphic novel took over 2 years to get made, which was harder to get since the show was written off for a tax break and, in consequence, all Blu-Rays of the show stopped producing and it was purged from all digital and streaming platforms in July 2022.
In April 2023, Olan would announce through a video that a deal with Warner Bros was made to produce one graphic novel to send off the show. The limitations to produce it were that it had to be independently financed without help from Kickstarter, it couldn't have animation or voices, only physical copies, he had to publish it on his own and that only one graphic novel would be produced.
The artist Daz Tibbles will develop a special language for the graphic novel, as well as work on the overall art style of the novel.
Olan started writing the novel on June 2023.
Trivia
- A total of 39,134 copies has been pre-ordered so far.
- In one day since its official announcement, 10,000 copies were sold at the price of $125, becoming an instant best-seller.
- Olan has stated that the novel will have a "Previously On" section that serves as a recap of important events of story seeing in the TV show.
- Olan has said that he's thinking on making the graphic novel structured as a season on TV, breaking it up into chapters.
- In a video made in September of 2023, Olan revealed that the graphic novel will have a 5-year timeskip.
- At the Kickstarter campaign for Godspeed: The Series, the comic was included as a backer reward for the campaign. This reward is for backers who contributed at least $1,000 for the campaign.
- Olan will be releasing a Midnight edition; this version will be in Black and White.
- A character named Serena will appear in the graphic novel. That character was named and dedicated after a fan of the show named Serena who made a fan design of herself as a fanon character in the show. As Serena has died of a terminal illness during the graphic novel's production, her fan design will be featured as a canon character in tribute to her.
- The graphic novel will include a recipe for chocolate chip cookies called The Cookie, which Olan canonically considers to be the recipe H.U.E uses to make the cookies seen on the Galaxy One. That recipe is made by Darren MacLean, a chef who owns the restaurants, Shokunin, EIGHT, and NUPO in Canada and was also a finalist in the Netflix cooking reality show The Final Table. Darren was revealed to have been a fan of Final Space and collaborated with Olan on the cookie recipe.
- There will be QR codes in the novel that will allow for music tied to the book's themes when scanned with your phone, as well as several Expansion chapters that are currently being written that will eventually be available to read by scanning QR codes as well. These bonus chapters will extend the novel to nearly 800 or more pages when read together.
- Ash's story was originally supposed to be Part 2 (which would have been 8 parts), but it got moved later in the book and combined with the chapter The Silence Beyond Stars.
